On Tuesday 19th December, one of our students was presented the excellence award by Tonbridge based Millwood Designer Homes, as part of its annual Encouragement Pack initiative. Sales Director, Philip Brown met with Phoebe Thompson, 17, to present her with a trophy, along with a £50 cheque and £50 book token.
Year 12 student, Phoebe Thompson is currently studying English Literature, Textiles and Art A Levels at Hillview School for Girls and has won the Excellence in Technology prize. After completing Sixth Form, she plans to undertake an Art Foundation Course and pursue a career in Fashion and Art.
Mr Cavan Pledge, Head of Art at Hillview School for Girls, who nominated Phoebe for her award, comments: “Phoebe is making excellent progress in her studies and through her developing talent and hard work she will have the option of a great Art or Design career ahead of her. What makes Phoebe stand out is her energetic approach to problem solving. As an Artist and Design student Phoebe does not shy away from taking creative risks with her work. Phoebe thrives on creative energy, experimenting with the qualities of different media and materials to express ideas and realise her intentions.”
Mrs Hilary Burkett, Headteacher, at Hillview School for Girls adds: “We are immensely proud of Phoebe’s achievements, she is a passionate student who applies herself to her studies with energy, commitment and passion. I know that Phoebe will move into an exciting and creative career and am sure that her success in winning the Millwood Encouragement Prize will be the first of many awards and she is one to watch for the future.”
