Year 13 Decisions Week – 13-17 July 2015
How does standing on one leg and holding hands with team mates help prepare you for the workplace? Year 13s found out during Decisions Week when Pearson College delivered team building and other employability skills training. Students also benefited from the expertise of employers, including the Manager of a local Premier Inn, arranged by the charity Believe in Young People.
Other speakers included representatives from Kent apprentice training agencies Runway Training and IPS as well as Tunbridge Wells travel firm Gap 360.
Seven universities sent student ambassadors or staff to meet students and give them first-hand accounts of life at university and how to apply.
They included Russell Group university Southampton, Kent, Surrey and Sussex as well as the University of the Creative Arts and Canterbury Christ Church.
During the five day focus on planning for the future students also had intensive workshops on CVs, personal statements, and interviews. They were also thoroughly prepared for their work experience placements and offered more work experience opportunities for later in the summer and beyond.
