We are delighted to announce that Hillview is one of the first schools in the country to be awarded the prestigious updated ‘Platinum’ Artsmark Award, awarded by Arts Council England.
Previously a Gold Award holder, we have been involved in a new Arts Council England pilot to help shape future standards for the Artsmark Award.
Mr Smith, Senior Assistant Headteacher, said: “It felt natural to contribute to the ‘refreshing’ of Arts Mark as we have held Arts Mark Gold for 15 years. I believe Arts Mark and Arts Council England provide an award that schools can aspire towards and that encourages continued review of the current Arts offer in school”.
The introduction of the new Platinum Award in recognition of exceptional commitment and provision is greatly received and we are proud to be in the first group of schools to receive this standard. It is recognition of the incredible experiences that our students have across all Arts disciplines.
MP for Tonbridge, Malling and Edenbridge, Tom Tugendhat, visited the school on Friday 16 October to congratulate us on our success.
Our staff provide industry-standard experiences, enriched by strong links with industry practitioners. Central to the school’s ethos is the belief that Arts should be inclusive and accessible to all students both within the curriculum and that extra-curricular and high participation rates allow Arts popularity to continue to grow. We are using our Platinum Award as a springboard to launch a new exciting curriculum called Performing Arts Studio which will be open to new students in September 2016. This curriculum will prepare students better than ever before, for a long lasting career within the Performing Arts industry.
