‘Small Blue Thing’ author visits Hillview School for Girls
On Thursday 19th January the children’s author S.C. Ransom visited Hillview School for Girls for a lunchtime talk and book signing in the library. The author was introduced to the students by Julia Ransom, the author’s niece, a Year 7 student at Hillview. Sue Ransom talked about how she wrote her first book, Small Blue Thing, on her Blackberry while commuting to work as a senior ‘headhunter’ in London. She showed the students the first bound copy of her book, which was a present for her daughter, and the actual bracelet which appears on the front cover of all the books in her trilogy. The students commented on how much they had enjoyed the author’s visit:
What did the students think?
Laura Johnson said: “It was amazing to meet the author.”
Ruth Thursby said: “It was lovely to listen to her talk about her successful career.”
Jai Embleton said: “I am a big fan now.”
