ICT Applied

“I think it's fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we've ever created. They're tools of communication, they're tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user.”

Bill Gates, Founder, Microsoft

If you are naturally inquisitive, enjoy solving problems and want to explore the really clever tasks which software can perform, then Applied A Level ICT is the course for you. Whatever your chosen career path, an A Level in ICT will be a relevant and valuable qualification.

On this course, students look at the role of ICT within society, how large-scale ICT projects are planned and managed, and how businesses and organisations make effective use of ICT to support and administrate their work. There are also specific units on relational database and advanced spreadsheet design, plus a chance to look at interactive multimedia products and how to design and build websites.

The skills covered on this course will give students a solid advanced grounding in a range of office-based and creative ICT packages and will support studies in any other Sixth Form courses chosen. The qualification carries UCAS points and serves students well for future studies and into employment.
