Induction and Enrolment

A smooth and effective induction into Sixth Form life will enable you to achieve or exceed your goals. All applicants to Hillview Sixth Form will attend our Induction week in July 2012 in order to be fully prepared to make a confident start in September.
During the Induction week, students experience taster classes in all of their potential subject choices. Experiencing these subjects first-hand is vital in order to ensure that the right choices have been made. Students also have the opportunity to drop in and observe other Sixth Form lessons to give a very realistic picture of what learning is like at Level 3.
Learning in the Sixth Form is very demanding and students will also take part in interactive skill development workshops during the Induction week. These sessions include Independent Learning, Research Skills, Time Management and Self-management and are all vital in ensuring that students are fully prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.
External applicants to Sixth Form will also take part in a welcome day prior to the Induction week which gives them the opportunity to get to know the Hillview environment, other external students and the Sixth Form team.
“This week has been so helpful … I feel part of the Sixth Form already and am really looking forward to September.”
Jonathan Shea, Year 12
“The skill sessions have helped me to understand exactly what will be required of me as an A Level student.”
Grace Tucker, Year 12
