Year 13 Fashion student, Jamie Brown, was thrilled to have the opportunity to undertake work experience at Saville Row’s prestigious Norton & Sons, owned by Patrick Grant of BBC2’s Sewing Bee.
Norton & Sons is a bespoke tailor with a longstanding history of ‘clothing the best dressed men of the last century, including Cary Grant, King George V, and Anthony J Drexel Biddle’. Every suit is cut and sewn by hand by a team of cutters and tailors. The firm makes fewer than three hundred and fifty suits each year and is therefore able to guarantee superb quality.
Jamie said “What an amazing opportunity. Not everyone gets to experience this kind of quality craftsmanship. I was also so impressed with how open and friendly everyone was”. Jamie has now been inspired to make his own tailored jacket, which you can see on the catwalk at this year’s summer 2015 Fashion Show at Hillview School for Girls on Wednesday 24th June.
