Throughout the Drama A Level, students are encouraged to see as much theatre as possible. Last year one of our Drama trips was to see Danny Boyle’s directing debut at The National Theatre with the production of Frankenstein. With a highly acclaimed cast, including Benedict Cumberbatch, the production was electrifying and inspirational for the students and it has clearly impacted on their group devised performances.
On the 7th October Hillview Drama students experienced an amazing opportunity, attending an Introduction to Drama Schools evening with Geoff Colman, Head of Acting at Central School of Speech and Drama. One of our students, Emily Langham, received a personal coaching session with Geoff to improve her audition monologue. This evening provided invaluable information regarding future pathways for our students, providing them with a credible and realistic view of the acting industry.
Upcoming shows include the Unit 3 Group Devised pieces in which students have been creating pieces of drama from a variety of stimuli, including Jekyll and Hyde, the London Riots and The Little Albert Theory. These exciting and innovative pieces will be showcased in the Studio Theatre in November.
