Dear Parents and Friends
It is with great sadness that I write to inform you that we learnt last week of the death of Stephen Bovey, the former Headteacher at Hillview. Stephen joined Hillview in 1996 as Deputy Headteacher and was promoted to Headteacher in 1999 until his retirement in 2014 due to ill health.
Stephen was instrumental in achieving the school’s Performing Arts status and making Hillview the school that it is today.
We have set up a Remembrance Book in the main school Reception where we invite any parents, students, alumni to come along to share and express their thoughts and memories. There will also be an opportunity to leave a donation for Hospice in the Weald, which is the family’s choice of charity in Stephen's memory. The family are also arranging online giving to the Hospice at Pembury, details of which can be requested from the school.
Hillview will further honour Mr Bovey's memory in the autumn term. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Hillview took 5 teams to the School National Championships in Telford yesterday and returned undefeated by any other school.
We came home with three 1st places and 2nd places (and these were only because we had teams in the same division so we beat ourselves!).
Hillview’s Hillstars are the Countries School Champions 2018! We now have 5 beautiful banners to hang around our sports hall.
Well done girls! ... See MoreSee Less

SUMMER SCHOOL 2018
Each summer, our Performing Arts Stage School provides an opportunity for students from any school to participate in two separate weeks of musical theatre, dance and drama with performance.
Our Performing Arts Summer School will be taking place on the weeks 30th July- 3rd August and 6th August- 10th August 2018. This is open to both Hillview and non- Hillview students. We recommend Summer School for children aged between 9-14 years.
The course will run from Monday- Friday 10am-3pm, with a little showcase at the end of the week to the students parents/ family. This will be in our School Theatre; as a mini presentation of the material the students have been working towards.
All areas of the Performing Arts will be covered, including; singing, dancing and acting, and we will also take part in some prop making workshops with our Performing Arts Technician.
Both weeks will cover different performances, and won’t repeat each other.
The fee for one week will be £100 or £185 for two weeks booked together. We request that a non-refundable deposit of £15 is made to the school via Parent Pay if you are a Hillview student or via cash/ cheque if you are not a student with us. This will secure your child’s place.
The remainder of the fees are then due by the end of term; 20th July 2018, paid by ParentPay if you are a student here or by cheque or in cash if not.
For further queries and to confirm your place please email popec@hillview.kent.sch.uk.
