As part of her Extended Project, Year 13 student Lauren Browne had the opportunity to work on an independent task on a topical issue: pollution and climate change.
12.7 million tonnes of plastic end up in our oceans each year. (Greenpeace UK) Plastic waste is found in 90% of seabirds. One million seabirds are killed by this exact marine litter every year. (National Geographic).
This inspired Lauren to make a sculpture to show the effects plastic has on sea birds all over the world. Her sculpture can be viewed in Reception.
