Fourteen Sixth Form Health and Social Care students gained a valuable insight into the Hospice Day Service when they visited Hospice in the Weald on Friday 22nd March.
One student commented, ‘When I first approached the Hospice, I was nervous, but when I saw the environment and the staff I realised how nice it was.’
During the morning, the students chatted to patients and carers and helped by serving refreshments. The group also assisted with water-colour art and craft sessions as well as seated exercise activities. After lunch in the Hospice’s eatery, the students returned to the Day Service to lead their own activities for patients. A quiz and a pottery session were among the activities led by the students, and it was clear that the patients enjoyed both.
