Year 12 Future Ready Day

On Monday 13 July, our Year 12 students took part in a highly successful Future Ready Day, designed to help them prepare for their next steps after sixth form.

Throughout the day, students attended a wide range of informative and inspiring talks from professionals and guest speakers. We were delighted to welcome current university students who shared their experiences of higher education and offered practical advice on how to make the most of university life. We also welcomed a former student, now studying Psychology, who spoke about her university experience as well as her volunteering and travel opportunities in Sri Lanka.

Students also enjoyed hearing from professionals working in the performing arts industry, including a theatre director and a representative from Arts Council England, alongside several speakers with varied and fascinating career journeys. Practical workshops covered topics such as LinkedIn, managing money, CV writing, and volunteering and travel opportunities through GAP360. The University of East Anglia also delivered valuable sessions on personal statements and student finance.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for Year 12 student to take part in a mock interview with experienced professionals from a wide range of sectors. The interviewers were extremely complimentary about our students, praising their engagement and potential.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the day, including our speakers, interviewers and the many staff who helped organise and support the event. Their time, expertise and enthusiasm helped make the day such a valuable and memorable experience for our students.

The Future Pathways Team runs a wide range of careers events throughout the year for all year groups. If you have expertise to share, or could offer our students an insight into a particular career, industry, apprenticeship or pathway, we would love to hear from you. We are currently seeking exhibitors for our Careers Fair on Thursday 15 October 2026 and are keen to provide students with as broad a range of opportunities as possible. We would welcome support from local and national companies, organisations and training providers.
