James Cousins' Contemporary Dance Workshop

On Thursday, we were thrilled to welcome two professional dancers from the renowned James Cousins’ Company, who delivered an exciting Contemporary Contact workshop to some of our Year 9 students and then both Year 10 GCSE Dance classes.

This was a fantastic opportunity that allowed students to work alongside industry professionals, gaining first‑hand insight into contemporary performance practice while developing their creativity and confidence with contact work, directly supporting the students’ GCSE choreography component. The workshop also explored Within Her Eyes — a key professional work studied as part of the GCSE written examination. Experiencing this work in a practical, embodied way brought the choreography to life and significantly deepened students’ understanding.

The students worked really hard throughout the workshop, and we hope to welcome back Ellie and Ashton from James Cousins' Company again in the future.
